Malawi Cichlids Feeding Behavior, A Seminar by Ad Konings
No lake in the world contains such a diversified and distinct community of cichlid fishes as Lake Malawi. Over the years Malawi cichlids, which are among the most colorful freshwater fishes known, have become very popular among aquarists, as they are easy to maintain and breed in captivity.
The total number of cichlid species in the lake is now estimated at about 1000, which are about 200 more than all the freshwater fish species of the North American Continent combined! And there is every indication that still more remains to be discovered. In this video, Ad Konings talks about the various kinds of feeding behavior in Malawi cichlids. He uses detailed photos and close-up video footage to explain the sometimes-astonishing methods of how these inventive fishes cope with their environment.
This 56 minutes documentary is fascinating, as the entire video has been shot in the wild! You will discover the tremendous variety and multiple feeding behaviors of those beautiful fishes. Wonders of nature and evolution!
